Advanced backward shuffles are a way to dive deeper into our basic movements. We can take our good principles from our backward shuffles and apply them to our advanced shuffles. These advanced movements will help as we progress in our journey as a goaltender.
Shuffle to T-Push
Our shuffle to t-push movement is combining two fundamental movements. We take the shuffle movement and then instead of drifting back we open our hips, and rotate our body. We then push across the line we are working on (red or blue) to simulate a t-push down the Y. We remember our good hand position and rotate our body and look towards the direction we are going. Then we load on our back leg and push across. We can continue to work on our shuffles or link t pushes.
Shuffle to Butterfly Drop to Butterfly Recovery
This is a sequence that includes a bunch of our basic movements. We start with our basic shuffles, then once the shuffle is completed and we push, pull, reset, we then drop into the butterfly. We make sure our hands our in good form and out in front of us. Then once we do that, we simulate a save, to help our downward tracking. Then we would track the puck out to help rotate our torso to our next position. We then do a butterfly recovery and remember to push, pull, and reset. Once we are all set and in our basic stance we continue moving down the line.
