Active Hands – Blocker Side Drill

This is a very simple but effective drill for all skill levels. This drill helps us track pucks in and out and gets our blocker out in front of our body while being forced to bend at our hips. Start the drill WITHOUT our stick and in our basic stance. Have the shooter shoot the puck along the ice and have our goalie track the puck in, bend at the hips, and use our blocker to make the save.

The shooter should shoot the puck on the ice and aim 5-hole. The shooter also should not fire the puck as this drill is designed for good tracking habits and getting our hands (in this case our blocker) out in front. We want to force the goalie to bend at the hips, get used to having their hands out in front, and using their head in downward to track the puck in and out.
